His Word for Today: Book of Isaiah 2:12-22

This morning’s verses speak of humility before the Lord.

Humility is our need for the Savior. Where is our heart today as we go through challenges throughout the day? We may not reap all of His benefits during our lifetime on this earth, but we shall in due season at an eternal level. (See Galatians 6:9) Do we need Him for eternity or just for needs, wants, and what we can experience on this earth? Because we are not taking anything tangible with us to heaven (See 1 Timothy 6:7), it is wise to invest our time and focus on what is intangible, our character. In other words, our humility before the Lord is tested, whether we seek Him as our eternal Savior rather than someone we go to for our temporal needs on this earth. (See 2 Corinthians 4:18)

Today, let us seek the Lord from an eternal perspective. Our success in life should be measured by how much we have grown in character (See 2 Corinthians 3:18), which has eternal value, not by how much we have accumulated, unless they are meant for His eternal plan.
