His Word for Today: Book of Isaiah 8:16-18

This morning’s verses speak of being the light in the darkness.

We may be surrounded by people who are not committed to following the Lord. As lights of the world, it is actually an opportunity to shine in the darkness of this world (See Matthew 5:14-16). What makes us believers different from the rest of the world is character. The world may gain societal status, power, influence, fame, and wealth, and even health through medicine, but not the character of Christ. Although the Lord does promise abundance, prosperity, and health in the Scriptures (See 3 John 1:2), this in itself is not the ultimate factor that makes us different because the world can gain them as well through their wisdom and strength. 

Today, let us focus on character growth that the world cannot exhibit without Christ.
