His Word for Today: Book of Numbers 12:16

This morning's verse talks about the Israelis moving from Hebron, which was closer to the promised land, to the wilderness of Paran, which was farther away from the promised land. What does this mean and how does this apply to us? 

The Lord led the Israelis by cloud and by fire through the wilderness, (Ref Exodus 13:21) which means that the Lord led them from Hebron to Paran. Are we closer to the next breakthrough but only to go through another extra route to be molded and prepared for the next level in our walk with the Lord? When we look at the map, although it was closer to the breakthrough seeing the glimpse of it from a distance, looking back, we would be glad not to have gone directly into the promised land because we were not mature enough to take on the next level at that stage. 

What are the areas the Lord is dealing with us right now? Is it in the area of focus,  concentration, leaving behind the things in the past? (Ref Philippians 3:13) Is it in the area of resisting the attacks from the devil without over thinking about the negative thoughts that come into our minds? (Ref James 4:7) There are Words of the Lord that we may have read, heard in the past but did not pay special attention to only to find them pop out of the Scriptures for such a time as this, where the Holy Spirit is telling us to pay attention to those Words for release, freedom and breakthrough to get to the next level. 

Today, let us ask the Lord for areas He wants to deal with and correct. We will not be able to completely correct every area that needs to be corrected at once, but He will take us through step by step (Ref Psalm 37:23) so that we can move into the next amazing thing the Lord has for us.
