His Word for Today: Book of Numbers 28:16-25

This morning's verses talk about perfect sacrifice to the Lord. How do we offer perfectly to the Lord? We cannot achieve His level of holiness by our own effort. This is one of the reasons why Christ died on the cross for our past, present and future sins.(Ref 1 Peter 3:18) Therefore, we can come boldly to His throne accordingly. (Ref Hebrew 4:16) We can offer ourselves perfectly from rest through the blood of Christ Jesus that was shed on the cross. (Ref 2 Corinthians 5:21)

What keeps us from resting in Christ? One of these can be shame. We may be shameful about some area of ourselves that we may want to hide but cannot.(Ref Genesis 3:7) But the truth is that we are a spirit being with a soul clothed in a body. (Ref John 4:24, 1 Thessalonians 5:23) We have the Spirit of Jesus. (Ref 1 John 4:17, 2 Corinthians 5:17) Our spirit is united with His.(Ref 1 Corinthians 6:17) This is one of the reasons why our identity as believers is now Christ. How we appear to ourselves and others in our physical bodies in a mirror etc. are actually not our true selves.  We can discover who we are through the Word of God. (Ref John 1:14, John 1:1)

Today, let us seek Him to reveal to us areas that keep us from experiencing His rest. It is our unbelief that keeps us from experiencing His rest. (Ref Hebrew 4:3) What areas of our mind need to be renewed so that we can discover who we truly are? (Ref Romans 12:1-2)
