Today’s verse speaks to our dedication to the Lord and its completion. His work that began in us will continue until the day we face Christ. (Ref Philippians 1:6) We are to continue to grow and prosper until the day of His return, His day. Therefore, life on this earth is really about how far we can go. Are we committed to growth?
This means that the visions we have from the Lord may not be realized during our time on this earth. But our visions may be succeeded as a legacy to the next generation. So our focus should be how far we can go to be as close as possible to the realization of the vision the Lord has given to us. Abraham saw a vision of the number of His children as numerous as sand on the seashore (Ref Genesis 22:17) but did not get to see the fulfilment of it but only the beginning. (Ref Hebrews 11:13) In other words, it is really about the journey that we take each day enjoying (Ref 1 Thessalonians 5:16) the process until we get to the mountaintop when we face Christ. What are the areas where we feel our commitment is meaningless because we may not achieve our goal that we have set for ourselves? Are we enjoying the journey each day? What are the gifts, talents and the desires the Lord has given to us to use and follow? What are the areas in our life that we feel paralyzed because of fear? Are we afraid because we may not see the results that we expected? If we make a mistake, we can simply change course. As believers, we are to fall seven times and rise, which means that if we are not experiencing failure, we are not walking in His ways.(Ref Proverbs 24:16) What is He speaking to us today to fulfill? We can enjoy having fellowship with the Lord, hearing His voice and simply following Him while also growing in Him moving a step closer to fulfilling the God given destiny we have been given from Him. (Ref John 10:27)
Today, let us focus on the next practical step to experience Christ, the abundant life (Ref John 10:10) Christ died to give us.
May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
