His Word for Today: Book of Numbers 8:14-19

Today's verse talks about the first born which is the first fruit and the offering. What is the first fruit in our lives? One of them which the bible teaches is the first fruit of our labor. (Ref Proverbs 3:9) In this day and age, this is usually referred to as financial income. 

What are we doing specifically with our income, our increase? This should be offered to the Lord with a heart of the income being His possession. One of the benefits of doing this is the experience of lightness. We may not have noticed this but more possessions means more responsibilities and more burden. Jesus is with us to take on the burden (Ref Matthew 11:28) and giving the finances over to the Lord is one of the ways to experience His promise.

We can then give ourselves to the Lord, our lives as a living sacrifice. In today's section of the bible, Levites were God's possession giving themselves wholly unto the Lord revealing Jesus Who gave himself for the salvation of mankind. What does this mean? Money matters need to be dealt with first before the Lord can ever use us for His glory. (Ref Luke 16:10-13)

Today, let us reflect on how we are managing our finances. We need to pass this test first before we can ever be of great use for His Kingdom receiving true riches which can be interpreted as our calling on our lives.
