Today's verse talks about Moses being secure about his identity in the Lord. For Joshua, who was an attendant from his youth, who would later succeed him to lead the Israelis into the promised land, wanted to protect Moses' position as a prophet for Israel. However, Moses was fine about others rising up to become another prophet. Are we threatened when we see others who have similar assignments from the Lord prosper in our sights?
Our life on this earth is not about ourselves but lifting others up. (Ref Philippians 2:3) However, understanding and experiencing this truth requires a level of maturity after going through various trials. (Ref James 1:2-4) As a young believer, we may be more concerned about ourselves because we may not know enough about how much the Lord loves us. It is essential to know and even experience that the Lord loves us first before we can ever begin loving others as Christ does. (Ref 1 John 4:19)
We don't bring to heaven with us what can be seen. We only bring what is unseen, one of which is character. (Ref 2 Corinthians 4:18) No matter how much we are recognized by others, which may be revealed through titles, positions etc. that we may hold in the church or in the society, we don't bring them to heaven with us. This is not to mention any possessions that we may have such as cars, houses, money etc.. Bondage to what is only temporary can keep us from fulfilling the God given destiny.
Today, let us reflect on His love for us. What is it that keeps us from loving others more like Christ? There may be a weed that needs to be plucked out from the roots that interferes with the wheat harvest. (Ref Matthew 13:30) Let us ask the Lord to reveal it to us.
May the Lord continue to richly bless you today!
