This morning's section of the bible talks about the Lord being offended and frustrated by the Israelis' lack of trust in Him, and even going so far as to favor Moses, Joshua and Caleb over the rest. Didn't the bible teach us not to be offended, (Ref Proverbs 19:11
) and show partiality (Ref Romans 2:11)?
We may be offended and frustrated when people refuse to accept, follow Christ diligently. This is a legitimate response according to today's Scriptures. If we are OK with these attitudes and behaviors, we may need to question ourselves the level of our faith and walk with the Lord, that includes allowing lukewarmness in the church. (Ref Revelation 3:15-16)
How about our own agendas? If the agendas we are frustrated and offended about have their roots in the Lord, then it is legitimate for us to be angry about them. This may include our appearance, marriage, family, finances, callings etc., the areas where the Lord has had His touch on and is leading us. (Ref Genesis 1:27) We can even favor those who are for us and support us so that His plans can be accomplished through us.
Today, let us ask the guidance of the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom on what Scriptures to apply in different situations. This is because offense and partiality at times is a valuable response to further advancing the Kingdom of God. We don't need to condemn ourselves simply because we have those emotions. (Ref Romans 8:1)
May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
