His Word for Today: Book of Deuteronomy 1:16-18

This morning's verses talk about fairness. How can we make fair judgments?

The ultimate judgement comes from God and He wants to use us to make fair judgements. We should not fear the opinions and pressures that come from people to make fair judgements. What is He speaking to us to do? (Ref John 10:27)

One of the keys for fair judgement is to hear both sides of the story. (Ref Proverbs 18:17) Are we quick to pass judgement before hearing the story of another person? Love is patient and kind. (Ref 1 Corinthians 13:4) Love is required to patiently listen to both stories. We may misunderstand that we know it all because we don't.

Today, let us focus on hearing His voice to do what is right. And doing what is right includes being quick to listen to hear their stories. (Ref James 1:19) Fear in the Scriptures is a verb which the Lord teaches us not to do. In other words, we may feel fear but we can still do what is right in the sight of God. (Ref Isaiah 41:10)
