His Word for Today: Book of Deuteronomy 27:21

This morning’s verse continues to talk about honoring our marriage.

Are we keeping our sexual conduct within marriage? (See Hebrews 13:4) The Bible teaches that even lust in our hearts is sin. (See Matthew 5:28) Then, how can we remove the lust from our hearts, which can lead to adulterous behaviours? 

If we want to remove the cycle of addiction, we must go to the roots so that the fruits of the roots can be withered as well. (See Mark 11:20-21)  What are the roots of our ungodly behaviours? From my experience, and as we can see from the roots of trees, multiple roots need to be dealt with. Freedom from ungodly behaviours is a journey. We may have felt that we have won all of the battles after having dealt with one of the roots, but notice that other roots need to be dealt with by His Word.

Today, let us reflect on honoring our marriage and seek His guidance on the root or the roots that need to be dealt with to break the cycle of destructive addictions. What is our current or the next step?
