This morning’s verses speak of the Lord’s power to defeat our enemies.

When defeating our enemies, we may think of increases in business, ministry to impact more lives for His glory, and this, in itself, is a great thing. However, we should not forget about the internal battles that we face each day.

What is our deep motive for following the Lord? Is it to see our ministries and businesses become more effective to impact more lives? Again, this, in itself, is a valuable thing, but what is underneath that motive? What if all of His promises were destined for the next generations? (See Hebrews 11) Would we still gladly obey the Lord? This is when our character growth comes into play, which has eternal significance. (See 2 Corinthians 4:18) This is when we truly reflect His glory from a deeper level. We walk by faith, which is unseen, not by what we can see. (See 2 Corinthians 5:7) Have we chosen to forget the past and move towards the future, believing in others? (See 1 Corinthians 13:5, 7) Love is what is worth fighting for. Our fight at the deeper level is against the enemies that tempt us to be weaker in love, defeated. (See 1 Timothy 6:12, 1 Corinthians 13:13)

Today, let us think of the true inner battles that we are facing. We have His power to defeat our enemies. Victory in inner battles is what has eternal significance.

May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
