This morning’s verses talk again about the consequences of disobedience.
Choosing to obey His commands requires intentionality. (See Colossians 3:23) If we simply let our emotions or feelings drive us, we end up making foolish choices that we may regret later. In other words, life on this earth is full of challenges each day that require us to be intentional about serving the Lord. (See James 1:2-4) When others have offended us, what would be our natural reaction? (See Proverbs 19:11) We need to intentionally choose to focus on what is praiseworthy, excellent, and what matters to our lives, (See 1 Corinthians 13:5, Philippians 4:8) forgetting what is behind. (See Philippians 3:13) Although this may not apply in all circumstances, we need to intentionally choose to trust them that they have good motives behind their behaviours. (See 1 Corinthians 13:7) Have we given thanks to them for the good things they have done to us? (See 1 Thessalonians 5:18) Obviously, the enemy is after our hearts throughout the day, not our possessions.
Today, let us continue to choose to be intentional about serving the Lord because the world, even the Church, can be used to derail us from following the Lord if we let our emotions and feelings have control over us.
May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
