His Word for Today: Book of Deuteronomy 28:5

This morning’s verse continues to speak of His blessings resulting from our obedience to Him.

The food gathered and the food prepared will be blessed as a result of our obedience to the Lord. In other words, He will bless the work we do for our daily provision. 

So what specifically does our obedience to Him look like? We may tend to think more in terms of vocational, career-based calling, where obedience is required. Still, He is more interested in character development because this is the area where the Scriptures talk about the most. We need to be careful if we are thinking more about our career direction than about our spiritual growth. 

Today, what is He leading us to change or grow in character, because what matters eternally is what is unseen. (See 2 Corinthians 4:18) In other words, success in life is more about how much we have grown in character. We will then experience blessings that overtake us.
