This morning’s verses continue to talk about the covenant of the Lord.

What is our motive for obedience? Is it so that we can receive His blessings? It is His covenant that if we obey, we experience His blessings, but what if we don’t experience them during our lifetime on this earth? (See Hebrews 11:13) Would we still obey, showing His love towards others around us (1 Corinthians 13:7) with an attitude of focus? (See Philippians 3:13) This, I believe, is one of the reasons why character growth (See 2 Corinthians 3:18) has eternal implications. (See  2 Corinthians 4:18)

How do we deal with our spouse or coworkers with whom we feel like we are being treated with disrespect and are offended regularly? We can choose to be thankful to the Lord as we are being presented with an opportunity to experience more of Him through practicing His love. (See James 1:2-4) We may not experience the tangible blessings on this earth, but we will definitely take our character to heaven, and there will be His blessings at an eternal level.

Today, let us assess our motives for obedience. Would we still obey, even if we don’t experience the tangible blessings while on this earth?

May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
