This morning’s verses speak of the consequences of sin.

Where is our primary focus? Is our focus on what has eternal value or what is only temporary?  (See 2 Corinthians 4:18) We may have gained a significant amount of wealth, status in society, earning respect and influence. Yet, the way we moved up the ladder was through our own effort, with little work on our character development, which has eternal significance.

The Lord is interested in where our hearts are. Do we believe in Him, trust in Him? This is love towards God. (See 1 Corinthians 13:7) It is not about how much we have achieved for the Lord. The Bible teaches us to love the Lord and our neighbors. (See Matthew 22:37-39) The Scriptures also teach that we can love the Lord through loving our neighbors. (See 1 John 4:20) Love, which is intangible, is what has eternal value.

Today, let us fight the good fight of our faith to love. (See 1 Timothy 6:12) We may have been passionate about obeying the Lord to gain notable success even in ministry without much focus on love, which can keep us from moving to the next level. If love is the most important among faith, hope, and love, wouldn’t He use the one who is passionately seeking to love? (See 1 Corinthians 13:13)

May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
