If we choose not to be focused on the one thing that matters, we live a life of unfocus, where our efforts are scattered across multiple things, not seeing the best results on the one thing that matters most to us. (See Matthew 6:24) The Lord is leading us to serve in the doors that are open, not getting distracted by the closed doors. (See Revelation 3:7)
