This morning’s verses talk about the transition into new assignments.
Moses and Joshua were called by the Lord to transition leadership and were told that the people they led would fall into ungodliness. Moses had to let go of his leadership after having fulfilled his assignment, and Joshua would lead the people into the promised land, fighting battles with people who would later fall into sin. Joshua may have wondered if it was worth the effort, and Moses may have wondered about the effort he had made to lead them out of Egypt. This is where focus on our assignments comes into play. We need to trust the Lord that all things work together for good, living in faith in what the Lord is leading us to do. (See Romans 8:28)
We may be wondering now about the assignments we received, whether what we are being led to do would have any impact on the next generation. But our role is to simply focus with all of our hearts to fulfill the assignment He has tasked us with because He will turn them all for the good. We may feel that we have received the desires of our hearts (See Psalm 23:1, Psalm 37:4) and have gratitude towards the Lord about where we are positioned (See 1 Thessalonians 5:18) without much understanding of how this would turn into a lasting impact.
Today, what is He speaking to us to do? The most important assignment for the current position we are in is to love our neighbors intentionally (See 1 Corinthians 13:5, 7, 1 Timothy 6:12) with focus (See Matthew 6:24), becoming more and more like Christ. (See 2 Corinthians 3:18) Because whatever is unseen has eternal implications, planting seeds of His love into the hearts of people, including ourselves. (See 2 Corinthians 4:18)
May the Lord continue to richly bless you!
