His Word for Today: Book of Deuteronomy 32:11-20

This morning’s verses speak of His promotion and abundance, leading believers into a fall and lack.

Why does this happen? One cause could be a lack of maturity to handle His blessings. Because the Lord blessed them, He must have trusted them that they would be able to handle them with wisdom, but the Israelis could not. This is one of the reasons why what matters at an eternal level is our maturity in character. We must choose to continue to grow in Christ despite all of the promotions and abundance that we receive from God because that is what matters at the end of the day. If we gained the whole world at the expense of our souls, what is the point? We would lose joy, peace, and rest, which is really all we want, isn’t it? (See Matthew 16:26)

Today, let us continue to grow in Christ in character.  (See 2 Corinthians 3:18) If we have lost balance and tilted towards striving for His blessings, abundance, promotion, we need to choose to focus on what matters eternally. (See 2 Corinthians 4:18)
